Laser cutting is an accurate method of profile cutting up to 20mm

mild steel and 6mm stainless steel.

Other materials, such as aluminium and some plastics can

also be cut.

Laser cutting is very effective for short order batches or prototypes.

The Laser takes a drawing, in .dxf format, and re-creates the drawing

onto the steel and then assisted with gases such as oxygen or

nitrogen allows the profile to be cut.

The benefits of nesting multiple products of the same thickness within

a sheet can also be aided by nesting certain products within the scrap

areas of other components, thus reducing wasted material.

Modern nesting software will also look at common line cutting of

profiles to reduce the stop/starts of the laser. This feature would

effectively place components together (back to back) and thus only

cut along one line for two components.

Lettering can also be cut into profiles allowing corporate images

to be created for use in stainless steel company signs.
